HOW TO : clean your kid’s crocs

Crocs are my son’s favorite footwear and why not, they are just so super comfortable. and more than just comfort they are so light and fuss free to wear and run about in. and they attract a lot of playfulness, along with dirt and mud.
i have a Garfield shoes in the same material- light and white and pretty and bright.

ummm.. bright and white but not all the time-

all i need were these, i selected a PH balanced wash liquid by Oriflame (not at all sweety, this product is definitely not meant for a croc wash) and a used unwanted toothbrush (i wont declare who used it before else I shall be in big trouble eeks!) ; ofcourse you can use any good liquid as far as you are confident they wont have a harsh effect on your little one’s feet.

these are his favorite dirt sucking monsters :

which after the wash became these pretty feet props to chase a few puppies in the parking:

where's my water??

where’s my water??

i shall be doing a lot many “HOW TO : ” TUTORIALS in the future too and i thought this maybe the best one to start with. my super active baby son has them on all the time and i need to clean them atleast once a week… i wanted to share a pic by pic ‘how to:’ since i feel a lot many other moms may find this helpful.

STEP 1 :

a few drops of the cleansing liquid into the shoes and brush them well with the bristles like you clean the sipper spouts… run through each corners n every speck of dirt (we are such crazy obsessive mothers, o Lord!)

dig the front bristles till the front ends

dig the front bristles till the front ends

STEP 2 :

once you are done running the front and back of the brush in and out you may want to rub the bottoms and even the sides…

clean the bottom... the back

clean the bottom… the back

... and the sides too

… and the sides too

STEP 3 :

turn them over and let them dry… simple ! i dry them over a small towel over the bed rest so that nothing is spoiled beneath and my munchkin cannot reach all the way there to pick the wet ones only to dirty them more before they dry out.

quick dry method

quick dry method

since crocs and shoes of similar material dry out quickly it only takes a while to pick them up again and slid them onto the ‘ready-to-run’ feet. you might want to consider keeping them under the sun for a more woolly or cloth material.

white n bright

white n bright

my son has 6 pairs of footwear but these 2 are his favorite of them all. and why not, mum washes them every week. they are far more better to wear na??

kick out the mosquito

mothers have always been horrified terrified paranoid sleepless and what not when it comes to their kid’s health. I am no magician but I certainly wouldn’t mind for some magic to happen to keep D happy. oh shut up, every mom wants that too.

the weekend after Diwali we were traveling to this between-the-jungle resort in Udaipur. its an amazzzzzinnngg and beautiful place. and what comes complimentary in such resorts? worms, mosquitoes , bats , peacocks, birds, swans, bears, and much more. we stayed at top of the hill so bears dont bother this freaky mother… worms birds and peacocks are real fun to stare at… a bat did hit my brother in law on the head and we were all taken aback. I have no clue but D found this funny so we let the bat fly away alive. and the mosquitoes were thousands in number. As if there was some machine behind our cottage to multiply it. and no machine in the room with those liquid refills were of any help. at this very frightened moment i pulled out the sheet of mosquito repellant stickers. i have tried them all- yellow; red; white; animal prints too.

these are fab stuff… some work for 12 hours, some for 24 and some for 72hours.
however, what happens when my tired kid sleeps like this…???

he was so tired by the end of the long drive that my baby slept off before i could make him wear a tshirt and stick those orange peel scented stickers. i was worried but nevertheless had him wrapped up in a shawl and assuming the mosquitoes would pass by without noticing him. ya, like they were on their way to a blockbuster film and forget there is a feast waiting for them.. this is what moms think!! and this is exactly what happened…

mosquito bite

these are just three of the seven i saw the next morning. like my son was a fresh plate of crackling green salad. he kept on complaining of itching and this worried mother dialed a number… “Shreya, when will the blanket reach me?? I am traveling again next week and i so badly need it!! ”

by noon i saw this swollen ear and i could wait no longer-

mosquito bite-kid

by the time i saw some stars and moon crawling into the sky and my son using up all his last energy for the day jumping around and running about; this arrived. thank you Shreya! i smiled.

mosquito repellant blanket

Shreya, who makes mos-quit-o ,
a mosquito repellant blanket for everyone as freaked out as me. she makes them in two sizes for kids and adults and in two colors spearmint (blue/green) and bubblegum (pink/beige). and 6 block colors- honey, orange, blue, grey, green and red. aren’t the color names too cute??
these super soft cotton blankets for all year use are beautiful. when i first received it i opened up and kept on searching what makes it special?? it looks like just another blankie…
the cotton yarn is processed with a mosquito repellant which seeps into the
cotton fibers and binds itself to the cloth making it look so natural and yet works like no other blanket you would have used till now,

other things i really liked about this product was the non-smelly, no-fuss-orange-oil fragrance in the blanket like those on the stickers… they cover his full body at night, this is the perfect size for him right now and my son is 19months old.
{p.s certainly best thing to invest in at an early new born stage.}
this is the night view of the munchkin:

also the blanket is so compact that i can carry it with me anywhere i want, even in my motherbag with his other essentials.
this is the day view:
{yes, we practically use it everytime he sleeps now}

mos-quit-o repellant blanket

the blanket comes in this nice round box that you can hold in your hand and toss it in the car or luggage or pass it on to anyone who needs it.
also what i loved the best about the blanket was that its washable… home wash too. awesome right??? yay! and in case you are washing it once a month with your other comforters you can use this wonderful fellow for 4 years or upto 50 washes! high-five me!!!!!
this is one product that stays with me all the time now and rests with my flowery dohars

mos-quit-o blanket

so … now that the blanket stays on the bed all the time, what happens of the ultra good looking box i just told you about???

mos-quit-o blanket

we trapped spider man in it!
once he finds his way out we shall fill it with broken half used crayons so they dont run on the walls when mumma is not around. 😉

thank you Shreya and team Mos-quit-O for sending this beautiful and amazing product to D and me, this has been the best thing this fall. and it arrived just when we needed and looked around for help. lots of wishes to your team. may you attract more success by keeping the mosquitoes away.

motherhood cannot be faked

i have been away for a long long time now. its been months since my this post and i regret not being around to share things with ya all. life has never been so hectic and being a mom means you know… being a mom! u cannot define it in one word or one sentence. call her your caretaker, your cook, your cleaner, your washer, your maid, your driver, your trainer, your teacher, your tutor, your best friend, your mentor, your throw-the-tantrums at drummer, your mid night carer… there are a thousand things a mother does for you and yet she feels at times she has ‘maybe’ not given her 100% to you. and once you are a mother you feel that crap running in your brains too.. MAYBE… just MAYBE i could have done for my baby.

this post is for all those women who love being mothers…

we had never thought we could shape into a routine which revolves around making interesting weaning diet and backpacking extra kilos of food for “what if i dont find baby food in that 5 star resort we will be staying next week” while on a holiday… relax! such things happen. you are not the only one who packs 40 daipers for a 4 day trip. i have done it too and if you haven’t you will soon do it babes!! taking a baby out is like no walk on the beach.

ya.. so what was i saying? we mothers do a lot more in routine like making food, singing a song, story telling, bum washing, clothes changing n mango eating n bird watching and clothes changing again and playtime and cleaning up and clothes changing again… hahaha. i love getting my son dressed up. we have our favourite blue pirate tee and we both love his white crocs and we love the hair combing time… we sit in front of the mirror. him on my lap and i comb his hair and we talk and he giggles. the baby giggle… it can melt an iron rod… no ; not really. just saying!

and it is because we love being THE ULTIMATE mother we TRY to be, we forget of all the pains it gives us. no; they arent pain to us but those women who are not mothers surely like to call them that. you are just a woman when in the middle of the night you turn your side while still in deep sleep and you feel something wet and pointy has crawled on your bed and pinched you; you would shout so loud it would scratch your tonsils in fear and scare. you are a mother when you do nothing and still with your eyes closed deep in sleep pick up those cereal covered puzzle parts from under your shoulder and shove it around the bed and at the same time paste a post-it note in your brain to wash it first thing in the morning… ta-da! are nodding with me ?? then u must be that second woman just like me.

when you are a woman you will walk with the nearest sharp object you can find when you see a broken jar of cookies or an open almirah. Where as a mother walks straight through the unexpected graffiti on her walls and show it all the neighbors around. the graffiti which she feels is the first masterpiece has not been etched on the wall or book shelf or her recipe book or the newspaper and not even on dad’s favorite white shirt. it has been sketched on the heart of the parents. a friend’s son has already begun school to to be inspired to make his first masterpiece and cant wait for her to show it to me soon some day….
for me, i shall wait. for motherhood cannot be faked and every happiness that only a mother can see needs time and patience. be it the first potty in the potty seat or the first craft and even the first flying kiss… to someone’s else’s mom … hahahaa

and because motherhood cannot be faked be proud of what you have. and who you have in your arms. you see you carpet still smelling of the pee and the laundry still not folded at midnight, you see the airplane has been stuck in the tangled curtains and there still is some spilled milk under the sofa! (God knows how it reached under the sofa!! ). the kitchen counter needs cleaning and you need to wash the bottle for the 5 30 am feed. all this happens under your baggy eyes and dark circles but when you see your kid sleeping in the crib or next to you the innocent face makes you smile so wide that the dark circles tend to shy and hide away. all this and more happens because motherhood cannot be faked!

love and much more,
Kunj 🙂

dad i want you to be

this post is dedicated to all those happy fathers who think who they great daddys!
no comparisons.. all dads are different and all families need a dad according to how the family grills together… but hey, there are always certain parameters new fathers need to learn. learn by scratch , learn by experiences but please learn these certain things to be one great dad your kid wants to look upto.

little D with daddy

001- you mister hardworking guy at your workplace need to check every bad odor and when things get hot and wet in the bed please change the diaper. and dont ever say i dont know how to do so. u see mommies do it all day all night everyday. dont you fetch someone higher than your title at your workplace a tissue if needed be? here its a diaper. same thing same thing. just learn it.

002- there are beautiful days when the weather is just so perfect. those days are meant to take the kid out and have some dad-baby fun; beer and bachelor friends can come in any other day too! please dont ruin your days with your kid… s/he will never have this day when they are 14 months 7 days and few hours old. your friends on the other hand will still be there no matter whether they are 31 or 51 ! u got that MR. ?

003- please stop trying to gain female attention in malls/movie halls/exhibits/etc by showcasing your cute kid in your arm ! thats just so … so.. ugh! i dont have a word for it but u know what i mean daddy. often lovely short skirt long legs get attracted to this chubby little smiley child and goes over for a cute cheek pull… more than the child the dad enjoys the fragrance of the scent and the look of thin arms and perfect ribcage. something mommy lacks before long long ago you gifted her your semen. whatever.. just dont use the kid as ur bait sexy!

little D and daddy holiday-ing together

004- potty is so natural a thing when you and not at all ugly when the kid does it!! its just a matter of a few mins daddy… dont you wanna see the baby smile in his/her sleep? cleaned bowels and a lovely feed makes them sleep like angels. consider the potty cleaning sessions to be brownie points you can earn at your workplace. its just some messy stuff you have clear up so mommy the boss will give you a pretty smile and praise you in front her family and friends. and by friends we also mean mommy’s pretty girl-friends. wont that make you do some messy work without making a messy face? please daddy??

005- lets make it very clear that your little bub doesnt know how to read the clock. what seems night to you is just absence of some natural light to the kiddo. day or night playtime is not always mommy’s responsibilities. and it will always be appreciated if you be the game-master some times… some nights… some days. momma needs a day off too u know, to watch her fav game on tv or just pamper herself with a shower/facial/window shopping or just whatever! everything seems good when you get a day off from a 24 hour duty!!! the appreciation shall be represented in various forms by mommy just FYI.

mommy enjoying the sunset

any more mommies here who wants to add in? what do you think daddy dear needs to learn/do to make it easier for you?
lemme know 🙂

also i have a whats app group where i sell adorable cute baby products.. do drop in a mail at with your number and i shall get in touch with you soonish…

love ya all. cheers!

good buys for toddlers

i wanted to write a post like this for very long.. there have been certain very good products that i have used and found it to be very helpful all along these 10 months…
10 MONTHS??!!!

yea.. it has been 10 months of motherhood already. times flies like it was just yesterday when i rushed to the hospital and told her i need to deliver him right away… it was just yesterday when he first stood up on his wiggly tiny feet and climbed up the sofa on his own. PG and i often joke he was a chimpanzee in his last birth since he can climb anywhere and everywhere with little space or no steps at all! i wonder how he makes the strategies on ‘how to climb’ .

my brother gifted me this mat. numerical on one side and a beautiful sunny picture on the other… its as huge as our regular carpets at home. plastic coated its good for those ‘only underwear’ play time, helpful for cold days, and the thickness is good enough to keep him from hurting his head if he falls right over!

play mat

this is a pic from some 3 months back… when my son was too tiny…
actually he is always going to be tiny for us. my small little baby who i dont want to grow up so fast.. so fast that it makes me miss his rolls and turns and his frequent tries to climb upon us.

one more product i can vouch for its quality is this johnsons mosquito repellant. great buy for any age. non greazy and think water like density. the made in india johnsons is a complete NO-NO in my list.

if you are an avid shopper and often go to local drug stores to see whats new… you may bump into sudden unannounced freebies and discounts. found this at perfect mother store last month. chicco is my fave brand when it comes to my son s hygiene.

though this product is only a waste of money for me. you can invest some great bucks in this product while your little one is still a new born. my son has outgrown all the stages. he may surprise us any day by running around the house freely now. aaahhaaa cant imagine what a great day it would be for me and for PG and everyone who jumped with joy when he first crawled. somewhere between 7 to 10 grands this is a great product to buy. you may search for better deals online.

talking of chicco.. all these are great buys too… in case you want any leave a mail…

now for some good news… i am so meeting my girls tomorrow for a quick meet and high tea. i have been looking forward to meet all of them and the kids of course. a few of them are younger to D and a few elder to him. will post some pics. a ME-TIME guaranteed day!
cheers to motherhood n a happy healthy life. 🙂

diaper dirty n fresh!

i talk so much with my girlies everyday, right from when to swaddle the kid and how to burp while asleep without waking the kiddo up and even which diapers are good for all night long freshness..
lemme tell you, diapers only smell good when in the packet… once on the kid they get soaked and dirty and smelly and you are always in a hurry to discard them asap after you check in the kid a few hours later…
finding a diaper for my new born (when he was just 15days old ) was a difficult task…
the new born pampers that is for 3-8 kg fit hit like this-

too large !!!

then my brother got me pigeon new born diapers for 3-5 kgs.

this fits him so perfect!!
i recommend pigeon for new borns and pampers for infants!
there is a brand of huggies organic also available in middle east countries… in case you have any friends or relatives visiting (even when u are pregnant) ask them to get you a few! i havent tried any but a friend says they are very good since the cotton layers are organic!

and an imp thing to remember is to change your kiddo’s diapers every 4-5 hours… even if he asleep most of these hours.
keep him powdered before and after you tie the diaper.
you can get some amazing diaper deals here-
pigeon and pampers ; they often have lots of discounts and offers and give free home delivery.

lemme know if there is any other brand you have tried and like.
