people gave him money and he let them touch him, i touched his trunk… so strong n rough! it sure was a cute experience though…
we were at a Honey Singh concert that turned out to be a flop show!! i pity those who paid a huge amount for the passes which was tuned off within 20 mins of its beginning! anyways, it was still nice catching up with a few of PG’s friends and hogging on these mini wheels of dough veggies and cheeeeeese
and a mid night snack!!! i am not surprised at myself to have started mid night snacks since past whole week 🙂
this sweet fellow is often called as buddha fruit or sharifa! and many other names in different places. mo matter what it’s name… it manages to satisfy the human hunger and the happiness quotient !
and …. that’s what really matters, right? oh yes !!
My final post on Ganesh. and why not! it took over 10 days to prepare for it, 10 days of joy and sweetness and a sudden break off!!
we bid him a good bye on saturday… took to ill health and preserved the pictures to show you today. basically apart from the fun i was also looking forward to having my first taste of modak… the personal favorite of Ganpati Bapa… which however didn’t happen. disappointing. will wait for it next year;
the last time i saw Ganu:
the last day- lots of kids- well dressed and doing aarti the way they see elders doing. trying to act all grown up… it was cute though 🙂
about the disappointment i faced… there were just so many sweets served to Him that night, not a single modak dished out.
i searched for it in here first-
i then searched for it in here… they only had modak shapes but different sweet.
and even in this…
lots of delicious sweets sans modak!
i sound so desperate for modak now. anyways,
hope to see Ganpati next year too with a lot of joy and double celebrations 😉
i didnt go for the viserjan though… i am not someone who enjoys crowd and polluting the river is something i am dead against!!
did you go for the viserjan or a final saturday pooja?
see you soon, have a fantastic food blog lined up! with a recipe 🙂 yummm
Last evening was probably the best one ever! PG and i had a chance to conduct the Ganesh pooja at our place with Ganu’s entry to our flats early last week. the whole charismatic feeling was so good and so difficult to describe. the huge idol with beautiful grey eyes staring at you feels gigantic yet magnificent. the aarti playing loudly on speakers for the entire mohalla to join in. these are the days when i actually see everyone who lives there in the same building. and its a pity i only know a bunch full of them :/
how can i miss blogging about the food!! the sweetmeats and fruits offered to Ganu. he sure enjoys a lot of delicacies twice a day loaded with ghee and calories.
we even have a chottu Ganu enjoying the same pomp and care.
no doubt he has a huge belly. and lucky HIM everyone only praises His weight and huge round belly!
my current bbm picture! it was nice hearing the story of why is fresh fodder also served to Him along with sweets and fruits from M-I-L. for the elephant in Him. heard the entire story last evening.
my entry to please Him… no they aren’t modaks. they are momos. they are from an eatery called Momoman dedicated to Asian cuisine,. they were steamed (in my rice cooker)… with lots of veggies… Ganu needs some nutrition and veggies too. 🙂 yet nothing compared to the ones i had in udaipur. i will crave for them till i find better momos in Ahmedabad. and my search will continue…
the lights, the colors, the crowd, the happy faces, lots of sweets to savor in the end (new ones everyday).
this surely is a festival to enjoy the best sweets and meeting happy faces. its ALWAYS great to meet a few neighbors of mine who are just adorable aunties. i love talking to them. and they always give me good beauty advises 😉
are you celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi too ? post me your links and tell me about it. would love to stop by your blogs/picasa albums to see the celebrations.
Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great pomp and joy here… the bringing home of a Ganu Idol, praying it for 10 days and even serving him sweets from desi ghee… later eaten by gluttony kids and their parents.
this year… my first Ganesh mahotsav in my sasural gave me a chance to witness the prayers every night.
Ganpati’d first day at our home, when he was still being decorated for the festival.
the sweet that followed. no matter how many calories it counted in it… bhagwan ka prasad hai… manaa nahi karte.
yummm yumm… i cant understand y do humans love to eat all that had lots of calories?? even when we know what its as equal to 20minutes on a treadmill we still cant resist it.. why o why?
followed by this beautiful aarti in the evening, the whole atmosphere is mesmerizing 🙂
the night brought a smile on my face looking at ganpati and a riot of laughter later on when i went to this gujju play by Siddharth Randeriya,. what a talented actor he is. he writes/directs/acts/produces.. what a jolly man! no human can leave the theater without a few chuckles.
taking pictures wasn’t allowed as “gujjubhai ni Golmaal” is his newest production but i clicked one anyways… the only one i have because i wanted to put it on the blog. the one sitting on a chair in the far left corner is Siddharth ji.
a pic with him at the backstage- a very dull pic… but.. it surely is an achievement to meet this guy i person…
what are your weekend plans? i am attending a couple of bday parties…
lots of september babies i know. the weekend will be a cheesy one with lots of food and cake 🙂 eeeyay!
